1 way - 100% guaranteed to change your life for the better
I have done it, Just like that. All it took was 10 minutes of my life and it will be the best decision I have ever made. I cancelled my satellite TV subscription. Yes, cancelled, not reduced but totally cancelled.
I decided enough was enough, I was never going to emulate the success of the likes of www.37signals.com, www.stevepavlina.com, www.iwillchangeyourlife.com, www.lifehacker.com etc. Sitting around every night watching pointless programs over and over again convincing myself that I will change it all tomorrow.
So there it is, I now have around 5 hours every evening to do whatever I want. One things for sure though, I won’t be sat in front of the box, I will be at the gym, working on this site, reading, learning, pushing myself, being curious.
Please leave comments or drop me a line if you have done something similar.
PS I also saved £50 a month that is going straight into my savings account ![]()

We don’t have a TV. The internet is just as distracting though, if you’re not careful.
If you get rid of all your TV tuners you wont have to pay the license fee either and that will save you more than £11 a month extra. You’ll might be able to claim a refund on any that you haven’t used from this year too… maybe?
Good luck.

Oh, yeah… I printed out a list of things I should be doing instead of reading blogs and stuck it to my laptop palm rest. That helps with the web entanglement.
Though clearly not always because I noticed this post in Google Reader.

There was a time when I didn’t watch TV at all. Some time ago I resumed watching TV, but I am very selective about what I watch, TV doesn’t suck me in.

Thanks for the comments, it’s great always interesting to have other people perspective.
Tim’s point on the Internet is valid, I have a blog roll too, although I currently justify it as educational.
Alexei: Totally agree with this, I am not doing any kind of cold turkey, I just don’t have the channel selections available now. Terrestrial TV comes with 5 channels which means there will be the odd thing I want to watch, but now I can’t channel hop to find interesting programs.
Thanks for reading

A very interesting read and I can totally relate to what you are saying. I sit watching mindless numbing TV shows each night when I could be studying more for my CCNP & training in a gym.
The £30/month I would save would pay for my gym membership… I remember a saying someplace that for every bad loss there is a good gain, and I believe its right.
